Beckmans Road Upgrade, Tewantin

This project involved the preparation of nine comparative cost estimates and one P70 cost estimate for the upgrade of Beckmans Road in Tewantin. The project involves upgrading a number of unsignalised intersections on Beckmans Road as well as duplicating the existing alignment to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. Works associated with the upgrade involve earthworks, pavement construction, drainage structures, traffic signals, road lighting, public utility plant relocation and pavement markings.

Geleon provided the following services:

  •  Identified and prepared a schedule of standard work items in accordance with  Transport and Main Roads (TMR) specifications;
  •  Undertook a quantity take-off and prepared a bill of quantities;
  •  Developed nine comparative cost estimates using unit rate methodology for use in  the MCA process;
  •  Prepared a P70 cost estimate by first principles in accordance with the TMR Project  Cost Estimating Manual;
  •  Performed a probabilistic Monte Carlo simulation using @Risk to quantify the  construction contractors, principles and project risks;
  •  Prepared a report detailing the estimating process, methodology and presented the  estimated costs; and
  •  Developed a qualitative risk and opportunity register and associated report.
